fILL – Manitoba Libraries Catalogue

What is fILL?

fILL is an inter-library loan management system that enables library patrons to quickly and easily search the catalogues of many Manitoba public libraries at the same time. When you request an item through fILL your local library staff will try to borrow the item for you from the other lending library.

What is my login information?

When you first signed up for a membership at Springfield Public Library, you were provided with a username and password to log into our catalogue system, this login information will be the same one you’ll use to sign into fILL.

Typically the login information is the first initial of your first name, plus your entire last name, all one word, and lowercase. The password is the last 4 digits of the phone number you provided us with. If this doesn’t work, please contact the library to request your login information.

If you’re not comfortable with placing your order online, then please contact the library and supply us with the information about which book you would like to borrow.

Who can borrow?

If you are a member of the Springfield Public Library, you may request to borrow materials through interlibrary loan (ILL) by using fILL.

*If you have any outstanding fines or if there is a problem with the account, it must be cleared before a request is made.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What can not be borrowed?

Magazines, movies, and audio/visual materials are currently the items that can not be requested. Additionally, some libraries will not send items that are new or in high demand. Typically new books will stay within their own library for 3-6 months.

How long will it take for me to get my books?

The average arrival time is two to ten business days. Timing depends on where the item is being shipped from and if the item is on that library’s shelves.

Is there a charge for interlibrary loans?

If the books are requested from within Manitoba, there are no charges. Microfilm and books from other provinces all have charges but vary between libraries. If there is a charge, you will be informed before the item is ordered.

How long is the borrowing period?

The borrowing period is set by the lending library, which is usually two weeks or longer. However, this time can change depending on the lending library and if the item has a reserve list.

How many items can be loaned out to a library?

The limit is three items per person.

What happens if I lose an item signed out to me?

You will be required to provide a replacement cost as determined by the loaning library.
